Dining at Walworth Castle gives you the chance to experience some of the most amazing dishes that the North-East has to offer. We source local, seasonal ingredients for our menus and our team of highly skilled chefs create menus which are delicious and enough to whet any appetite.
We are open every day for food, where we serve delicious home cooked dishes. We also cater for all dietary requirements, just let us know prior to ordering.
We serve a wide range of beers, lagers and ciders, as well as lots of popular spirits. We have a wide range of spirits and we are particularly passionate about Gins where we have a wide range for you to try, served with Fevertree Tonic of course. We also have a good selection of wines from a local supplier.
We are closed for lunch between Monday and Saturday, however we are open for Sunday lunch every week. We serve Sunday lunch in 1189 Bar and Kitchen all day from 12pm and 8.30pm, where we offer a selection of starters, main courses and desserts.
There’s always a delicious selection of roast meats to choose from, seasonal vegetables, potatoes and homemade Yorkshire puddings.

Dating back to 1189, Walworth Castle was built by Sir Gilbert Hansard, which was the reason naming our restaurant after the year the castle was built. We offer tasty dishes which are locally sourced and all home cooked by our highly trained team of chefs.

We served breakfast every day between 7am and 9.30am and we are open to both residents and non-residents. We have a variety of options to suit every taste and we can cater to dietary requirements. Whether you are vegetarian, vegan or have allergies or require dairy free or gluten free option. We are sure to find dishes to suit your requirements.
Afternoon Tea is quintessentially one of the most English of customs dating back to 1840. So where better than to enjoy this traditional afternoon tea than a 12th-century castle. Afternoon Tea can be served in the lounge, or if the sun is shining, outdoors on the patio.
Afternoon Tea consists of a delicious range of dainty sandwiches, homemade cakes and scones served with clotted cream and preserves with a pot of tea or coffee. There is also the option of adding a glass of wine or Champagne if you are celebrating a special occasion

Dinner is served between 5pm and 9pm and is served in 1189 Bar and Kitchen. We offer a delicious menu which offers seasonal produce served in relaxed surroundings. You can be sure of a warm welcome and safe in the knowledge that you will be served tasty food. We have a 5 star food hygiene award and our staff are fully trained in dietary requirements and allergies. We look forward to welcoming you to the Walworth Castle.
Walworth Castle Hotel has lots of rooms which are ideal for private dining. We have the library tower which is perfect for those small intimate dinners between 2 and 7 people. If you are looking for a larger room, we have the beautiful Prince Bishops Dining Room, or Hansard’s restaurant, both of which are ideal for parties of up to 25. For larger dinners, we have the ballroom, and our largest room is the Cardinals Court. Each room has their own unique features.
