Our recent wedding showcase was extremely exciting, and It was by far our busiest showcase evening this year. Attendees were a combination of prospective wedding couples and those who are already booked with us.
Upon our guest’s arrival at the castle they were offered a complimentary glass of house fizz in the Hansards Lounge which we source from Bon Coeur Fine Wines. The Hansards Lounge is often where wedding reception drinks are served in the colder winter months when al fresco drinks aren’t an option. Lizzie Curwen who is a classically trained singer was providing background music for those receiving drinks!
The Ballroom, which is our most popular indoor ceremony room was set up as an intimate ceremony. Samantha Durnan is a great local talent and was singing and playing her acoustic guitar throughout the evening to give inspiration to those choosing music to walk down the aisle to. For those wanting a more unique ceremony setting we are able to offer The Dungeons or Lady Palmer’s Pavilion. Each of which were able to be viewed on the evening.
We were lucky enough to be joined by Judy on behalf of Darlington Registry Office. Judy is one of the registrars that joins us on a regular basis to conduct the marriage ceremonies of our many wedding couples. Her experience was invaluable as she talked many couples through the ceremony and noticeably managed to put them at ease.
Cardinals Court which is our largest function suite was set as if for a wedding breakfast. The tables were set and dressed with beautiful centrepieces provided by Flowers by Nattrass.
Lisa Charles Venue Styling who not only provided the chair covers and decorations for the ceremony room had also decorated Cardinals Court with her ever popular lanterns in beautiful Autumnal colours.
Each of our recommended suppliers above were on hand throughout the evening along with Luke Howells who was providing entertainment to us all in equal measures! Sarah from CameraA photography was present with photo albums of past wedding couples as examples of their fantastic work. Our very own resident DJ, Justin Hornsby was here. He had a laptop with rolling footage of very happy wedding couples and guests from evening receptions gone by.
A few of our beautiful and individually styled bedrooms were open for couples and their families to view on the evening. We feel it very important that every guest attending weddings have somewhere comfortable to stay. If they can view these rooms ahead of their stay – even better!
All in all the evening was a huge success and we can’t wait for the next open evening in 2019! Keep an eye out on our events page for future dates.
