A new chapter for our Castle bedrooms
We’re continuing to invest in Walworth Castle, carefully renovating and upgrading our bedrooms to give guests an even better stay while keeping the character that makes the Castle such a special place to visit.
From rooms tucked away in the Castle’s historic towers to spacious suites, four-poster bedrooms and rooms overlooking the gardens, each has its own character and is individually styled. Our renovations are designed to make the most of those individual features, combining fresh interiors and thoughtful touches with the history and architecture already found within the Castle.
This page is where you can follow the transformation. As rooms are completed, we’ll be adding new photographs and details below, so you can take a closer look at what’s changed and discover some of the rooms you could stay in on your next visit.
Historic tower living with plenty of character
Set within the oldest part of Walworth Castle, Room 16 is a three-room suite with a separate bedroom, bathroom and spacious living area. Rich purples, darker tones and characterful details complement its setting within the Castle’s original tower, while views across the gardens make this a particularly distinctive place to stay.
A spacious suite with a story to tell
Located within the south-east tower, Room 29 combines a clean, modern feel with some wonderful Castle character. Discover its beautifully painted ceiling, spacious living area, freestanding bath and views across the gardens and surrounding farmland. The room is also said to have a rather special connection to King James VI of Scotland.
A bath with a view – from amongst the trees
Rich dark green walls, natural wood and a large bay window give Room 28 its distinctive feel. The freestanding bath takes pride of place in the bedroom, with the surrounding trees creating the feeling of being tucked away amongst the canopy. Room 28 can also be booked alongside adjoining Room 27 for a family stay.
Traditional Castle style with a four-poster bed
Set in the north-east corner of the Castle, Room 26 centres around a traditional wooden four-poster bed, complemented by natural wooden furniture and a lighter interior. Its large window looks across the Castle grounds towards mature trees and the pond beside the woodland.
A traditional four-poster with individual touches
Colonel Eade is a newly decorated and furnished Superior Double featuring a four-poster bed with white curtains, complemented by hand-painted bedside tables and a matching dressing table. A large west-facing window completes the room, bringing in plenty of natural light and views from the western side of the Castle.
